Every vote counts
In Denmark, you are free to choose whether you want to vote or not - there is no obligation. But by using your vote, you make your voice heard and infl uence the decisions that shape your community. You don’t need to be an expert in politics or know every party or candidate. Your vote has the same value as everyone else’s.
Why vote?
Every four years, residents elect members of the municipal council. The council is made up of local politicians who decide on services and priorities in your municipality. These are local matters that aff ect your daily life, such as:
Elderly care and health: Welfare for older and vulnerable citizens
Leisure and culture: Opportunities for sports, cultural experiences and local communities
Schools and childcare: Services that support children’s well-being, learning and development
Roads and transport: Management of local roads, paths, green areas and public transport
Municipal development: Frameworks for business, jobs and tourism
